Sen. Charles S. Robb, D-Va., delivered the keynote speech to the 10th District Democratic Committee convention in Warrenton on May 23, and managed to skirt any mention of either his intensifying feud with fellow Democrat, Gov. L. Douglas Wilder, or of the federal probe into possible abuses of power within his office.
Sen. Robb, in fact, shifted some of the blame for his troubles with Gov. Wilder onto the media.
“I issued a statement yesterday,” he told reporters after the speech, “and I said I hoped that we would put all that behind us as quickly as possible, and if you keep asking questions [about the Wilder feud] you make it a little more difficult to get the message across.”
