The National Latin Exam is a grueling test administered every spring to over 65,000 students of Latin throughout the world. In the 1992 Exam, 75 percent of the Latin students at Wakefield School in Marshall earned awards. The awards were as follows:
Introduction to Latin, Outstanding Special Certificates and Special Certificates: Levi Campbell of Bentonville; Jed Davies, Stewart Hopewell, Alexander Schefer, and Virginia Yount of Warrenton; Van DeBergh and Scott Updike of Washington, Va.; Alex Kelly of Castleton; Scott Racer of Berryville; Cara Speziale of Front Royal; and Anne Wadlow of The Plains.
Summa Cum Laude (Cold Medals) were awarded to Kirsten Burton, a Latin II student from Warrenton, and Jody Waldron of Rectortown for Latin I.
Maxima Cum Laude (Silver Medals) were awarded to Molly Chase
