4-H camps start
in Chester Gap
For two successful years, the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center near Chester Gap has provided 4-H Youth Special Interest camping programs in addition to the county camping program.
The 4-H Special Interest Camps strengthen the positive impacts on youth development while expanding educational opportunities with a variety of theme-oriented programs.
This year the center is offering another summer season of outstanding Special Interest Camps.
“The Special Interest Camps are successful because they are designed around the youths’ specific interests,” said Helen Smith, Rappahannock County Extension agent. “Besides, they are not only educational, but extremely fun as well.”
The fun begins June 12-14 with the popular Fresh Water Fisheries Camp; Horse Camp begins June 1418, Science Camp June 21-25, and Creative Performing Arts Camp June28-July 2.
Favorite programs returning are Teen Camp July 5-9 and High Adventure Camp July 12-16. Several specialty camps include the Senior Adult Camp arriving July 24-26; Top Brass, a camp for cancer siblings, Aug. 2-6; Cloverbud III: Parent/Child Camp Aug. 7-9; and Cloverbud I and II, camps for youth ages 6-6 years and ages 7-8 years, .
