Yard, bake sale
The Amissville United Methodist Women will hold a yard and! bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at the Amissville United Methodist Church. Great bargains of every sort will be avail-; able and lunch will' be available also.

Series at Library
“Just for Kids,” the June 5 program of the First Friday Series will be held at the Rappahannock Library at 7:30 p.m. This program will feature children’s authors Carolyn Reeder and Beth Sutton as well as artist/cartoonist J.R. Rose Jr. creator of Kids Home Newspaper!”
Old fashion field day
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold an old fashion field day with a pig roast and a band on Saturday, June 13. (Time will be announced at a later date.) Watch the newspaper for more details.
Settle family reunion
The annual Settle reunion will be held beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 at the Rappahannock Park in Washington. Kveryone is asked to bring a covered dish and/or beverage. Relatives and friends of the Settle family are invited to attend.
Homeopathic workshop
A homeopathic workshop will be held Saturday, June 6 at Trinity Episcopal Church. From 9:30 a.m. to noon there will be a beginner’s introductory course and from 1 to 4 p.m. there will be an intermediate course. The cost is $40 for either class or $70 for the entire day. Jackpot bingo planned
Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company will not be having bingo on Saturday, May 30, in honor of Sperry ville’s carnival. Castleton will reopen the following week with bingo and have a $1,000 jackpot on June 6. For further information please call 937-4907 or 9375292.
Contestants sought
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will sponsor a carnival queen. Young ladies ages 12 through 18 should contact Connie Huff Harris at 675-3067 if interested. Prizes will be awarded for the young lady who sells the most tickets.
Carolyn Reeder to speak
Carolyn Reeder is a part-time resident of Rappahannock County who spends many weekends with her husband at their “mountain house” in Harris Hollow and enjoys hiking in Shenandoah National Park. She will give a talk for kids at 8 p.m. June 5 at the Rappahannock Library.
Two other guests appearing with Mrs. Reeder are Beth Sutton, author of “A Pony for Keeps,” and J.R. Rose, syndicated cartoonist, illustrator and creator of “Kids’ Home Newspaper.” There is no admission fee and refreshments will be served.
