proved, provides funding to repair public-owned facilities such as roads, bridges, and water and sewer systems. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Virginia Department of Emergency Services will be working cooperatively to deliver these disaster assistance programs.
Federal and state recovery teams have established a Disaster Field Office in Roanoke and will open Disaster Application Centers (DACs) in Salem, Vinton and Buena Vista.
Citizens with flood damage may also apply for assistance by calling the teleregistration line at 1-800462-9029. For persons equipped with telecommunications devices for the deaf (TDD), call 1-800-462-7586. Hours are from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Persons applying for disaster assistance should have their social security number, telephone number, some simple directions for getting to their home, and knowledge of their insurance coverage. Applications will be accepted over the teleregistration line through July 18.
