And now, with the U.S. deficit expected to be $400 billion this year, it’s time to stop all foreign aid completely. The John Birch Society has a petition to our leaders to put an end to this costly and counterproductive practice.

How RAWL
To the Editor:
Since December 1991, the county has contributed $400 per month to Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL). Along with contributions and donations made to RAWL, this money is used to pay an Animal Shelter manager, an assistant who is employed to assist in euthanizing, to buy dog food, and to provide medical attention to dogs when necessary. RAWL was very fortunate to find a veterinarian to volunteer to do euthanizing for us when necessary.
Addressing the increase that RAWL requested, even if an employee were only working a bare minimum of four hours per day for seven days a week, totalling 28 hours per week at $5 per hour, that alone would cost $660 per month, much over the $400 per month that the county currently contributes. Obviously this does not include any labor for keeping the shelter open to the public.
In addition, the shelter has eight runs, so even assuming that there are only eight dogs in those eight runs at $1 per day for food, you’re looking at $224 per month for food, regardless if an animal has been
