Kindergarten
class honored
The kindergarten students at Wakefield School in Marshall were recognized in a special ceremony this week.
The ceremony, which was held in the activity room of the Marshall United Methodist Church, featured music played by lOth-grade student Michelle Paine of Delaplane.
The invocation was performed by the third-grade class, and seventhgrade students Anne Wadlow of The Plains and Alex Kelly of Castleton served as honor guards. The participation by students of varying age is part of the Wakefield philosophy to involve students in all aspects of life at Wakefield.
The highlight of the ceremony each year is the performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” by the kindergarten students. These young children had committed to memory all three verses of the national anthem, something few adults could boast of!
The students recognized were: Julia Baumgardner of Washington, Va., Nicole Cairns and Bailey Fillmore of Linden, Kathleen Clarke of Warrenton, Lindsey Costello and Sarah Thomas of Front Royal, Elizabeth Fraser of Orlean, Bryan Giacofci of Haymarket, Benjamin Kelly of Castleton, and Nate Martin and Mary Yates of Flint Hill.
