In April 1989 he was named assistant editor. His duties included supervising the sports and lifestyle sections of that paper.
After almost two years as the Times-Democrat’s assistant editor he was promoted to the position of editor of the Rappahannock News in February 1991.
During his almost five years with ArCom Newspapers, Mr. Scolforo received Virginia Press Association awards for editorial writing, column writing, business writing, spot news writing and design.
Mr. Scolforo’s father, attorney Lt. Col. Leo J. Scolforo Jr., lives in The Plains. His nine brothers and sisters all live in Fauquier County and Northern Virginia.
Mrs. Currie, 31, of Toms Brook, joined the News part-time in February 1989, and has written feature stories, business stories, and contributed to design.
Prior to her association with the News she worked at the Culpeper Star-Exponent as a reporter and lifestyles editor.
