appearance of the building. She says that teachers and students are interested in livening up the school walls and hallways. She will also oversee more concentrated projects with individual teachers and smaller groups of people.
The artist says she is looking forward to working with the students for more reasons than one. “It’s a time of life when you’re particularly concerned with self expression,” she explains, "which is, in a basic way, what the arts are about.” She wants to “give students ways to find out about themselves.”
What about students who doubt their creativity? Ms. Wyrrick believes that “Everybody, no matter how' you choose to spend time in life, can involve themselves artistically in life... Art,” she explained, “is not like any other subject. There’s not the same rigidity as in other disciplines — no right or wrong answer like a multiple choice test.” This concept may be hard for some people to accept, but she is ready to expose everyone to the arts and help create a new mindset towards fine art at RCHS.
