In the girls’ race, only Stonewall, Clarke and Rappahannock fielded full teams. The Panthers again claimed first with a score of 35. Clarke placed second with 43 points and Stonewall finished third at 45.
The Panther’s Holly Gangel crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 21:06. Rapp’s Jessie Gheen placed second overall and Caroline Baumgardner was the Panther’s third runner and seventh overall. Myriam Lauthouille and Lauren Sharp were fourth and fifth for the team, with Emily Sims and Robyn Kaye rounding out the team.
Head coach Dave van de Graff and assistant Tammy Snider are pleased with the team’s success. With the boys’ team unbeaten and the girls’ suffering only one loss, they see the teams heading towards the regional meet and possibly going further.
The Panthers hope to continue their winning ways Wednesday at home. They will be facing their toughest foe yet, Central of Woodstock, among three other teams.
