Vineyards has been owned by Smith’s family for more than 40 years. “We wanted to remain rural and have the land support itself agriculturally,’’ says Smith.
The former cattle farm then became the home of 15 grape varieties. “We decided we could get a higher yield per acre and then add value to the grapes by making it into wine,” says Smith. The Meredyth Vineyards has shown a profit the last three years.
