another painting that expresses this balance between technique and painting. With the skillful markings of a Rembrandt ink drawing, the houses sit in the crisp winter air in a spaciousness made palpable by nature’s air and water.
In “Amazon Jungle” Brazil, 1989 we can see Teller’s pleasure in the non-objective play of dark against light in color. Even more so in “Atardecer Calido” Mexico, 1992 the bushes are pure color first and bushes second, and the landscape beyond is banded color with a surreal glow.
One final painting that deserves mention is “Los Frailes” Venezuela, 1989. A steady emphasis of all parts of this scene —- hills, mountains.
