The marriage of Miss Ann Selden Oliver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Oliver, V of Woodville to Mr. John Avent Cheek, son of Dr. and Mrs. Howard B. Cheek of Jackson, Mississippi, took place at 2 o’clock, Aug. 5 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington. The Rev. Jennings W. Hobson, III officiated.
The bride wore an ivory silk gown featuring a fitted bodice sprinkled with seed pearls. The sweetheart neckline extended to a deep V back. A full gathered skirt dropped to an ankle length front hemline that curved to a modified train. The gown was designed and constructed by the bride’s sister and maid of honor, F.lizabeth Sinclair Oliver. The bride created a sequin and pearl bandeau of which she attached to fingertip veil she wore. White roses, Queen Anne’s lace and magnolia leaves highlighted her bridal bouquet.
Bridesmaids were Sarah Lynn Adams of Washington, D.C., Molly Kathleen Curtin of Herndon, Heidi Maxey Oliver of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Carolyn Ann Peel of West Hills, California.
The flared princess style street length bridesmaid’s dresses were of deep turquoise cotton brocade. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of yellow roses and Queen Anne’s lace.
