Last spring Democrats were claiming that the whole reform effort was ill-conceived and would not work. Many questions were raised such as: where will jobs come from? who will administer it? will it bring a monstrous new bureaucracy? will those who cannot find jobs simply starve or freeze? Democrats claimed that Governor Allen and Delegate Jay Katzen “love to grandstand” and that “the best they can do is to present a slavish ideology that is totally out of touch with reality.”
