am a product of the public school system and have a strong belief in the system as it now exists.
My work experience in municipal government includes 14 years on the Virginia Beach Fire Department with first level management responsibilities. My many years of involvement with various civic organizations gave me insight and experience. I served for over a year on the committee which put together a “strategic plan for the year 2001” for the Virginia Beach school system. My wife Jan was a public school teacher for 15 years. I have attended most of the School Board meetings over the past year. Our family business is in the county so I can be easily accessible to residents.
2. I feel that the small size of the system.is one of its main strengths. It allows a closeness to develop between students, teachers, administrators and parents. The system affords many opportunities for parents or any concerned citizen of our county to become involved. The administrators, teachers and support personnel are all dedicated to insuring that every student is given the opportunity to achieve their individual level of excellence.
