Matthew Ketchum, 19, who was arrested last month for driving under the influence and possession of a firearm on school property did get into the high school dance then going on.

The letter sent out to parents of high school students by Superintendent David Gangel said, “On the evening of Friday, September 22, 1995, during the high school dance, a non-RCHS young adult attempted to enter the dance to meet a friend. The young man was stopped by chaperones and asked to leave school property.”

Based on that letter, the Rappahannock News reported he was “denied entry.” In fact, he entered the dance and got involved in an altercation with a student there, and was then told to leave. The firearm was not brought into the school. The - Rappahannock News regrets the error.
