Warrenton Residency

Will meet with local government planning staffs, developers, and attorneys to coordinate roadway planning and land development activities. Review and approve engineering plans prepared by consultant engineers for engineering integrity, accuracy, and completeness, considering compatibility of future road projects with the proposed development. Review traffic impact studies to determine impact of proposed land development on the transportation system. Represent the residency at public meetings by developing and presenting comments and recommendations. Review proposals for major subdivisions, rezonings, and site plans, and make recommendations on the Department’s position on proposals in detailed reports. Assist in monitoring, tracking and updating of the 6-year plan program for interstate, primary, urban and secondary systems. Meet with property owners and homeowner’s associations to negotiate and secure signed deeds for donated right of way for secondary road improvement projects. Position may assist with other special projects within the residencies, i.e., task force assignments; respond to and address citizen concerns; monitoring budgets; or other duties as directed. Candidates must have working knowledge of planning principles, practices and procedures; of various transportation modes; and of computer applications. Demonstrated ability to apply planning principles, practices and procedures to a variety of engi•neering planning and construction programs; to analyze various data and draw logical conclusions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals inside and outside the agency; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to review the ■work of others. Valid Virginia Driver’s license is required. NOTE: This position will work a variable work schedule within the 40-hour workweek, requiring some evening and weekend work hours. Salary: $30,929 - $48,287.
