ioned point-to-point is a throwback to the very birth of the sport of steeplechasing. Three mandatory markers are placed at approximately onemile intervals in the hunt’s territory. Starters may choose their own course to arrive at each point, selecting shorter, often trappy, routes or a longer, though easier, circuit.
Prizes are given for the first to finish, the first “opposite sex” finisher (to the first man if a woman wins the overall prize, to the first woman if it is a man who wins) and the first heavyweight finisher.
Bull Run will host an oldfashioned March 11, Rappahannock on March 26 and Orange County on April 9.
