The Y2K National Steeplechase Association season opens in just 10 days, a full three weeks earlier than ever before. Virginia’s first NSA meet is April 15. The NSA calendar includes all the old haunts, but several developments stand out on the schedule.

Tampa Bay Downs in Florida joins the expanding list of major track hosts to the jumpers with a $25,000 Sport of Kings maiden hurdle slated there March 4.

Billed as an invitational, the race will be the first NSA steeplechase in 2000, and it leads off a busy weekend in the Sunshine State that also includes the new Everglades point-to-point March 5.
