Many people have had the experience of being in an environment which made them so ill at ease that all they could think about was leaving. Conversely, many of us have also experienced places where we feel enhanced, more vital and alive. Why the difference?
Mary Boudreau thinks it has a lot to do with the concepts of balance and being in time with the harmonies of the natural world. She believes nature’s balance wheel and tuning fork can be found in the ancient Chinese art of placement and design, Feng Shui.
“What feng shui, (pronounced, fung schway), means is wind and water, a kind of shorthand for natural surroundings,” says Boudreau, a feng shui consultant and owner of “Sacred Space Environments” in Sperryville. “With feng shui, we bring balance to ourselves within our home or office environment by arranging the space for maximum success and comfort. It’s an intuitive art, a healing art” that combines good design, scientific principles and thousands of years of observation of natural law.”
