• Old Dominion Pace, 1 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Ben Venue Farm in Ben Venue. Regular divisions plus hilltoppers. Regular divisions enter by April 3 to (703) 777-2575. Rappahannock County’s mountainous terrain and rolling hills characterize this course, always a favorite of competitors.

• Middleburg Pace, Sunday April 15 (time not stated). Sterling Woods immediately north of Middleburg, regular divisions only. Entries by April 10 to (703) 777-2575, information, (540) 687-5446. Steep hills, trappy woods and open rolling fields characterize this course, held right outside the town of Middleburg.

• Loudoun Hunter Pace, 9 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at Valley View Farm near Hamilton. Regular plus hilltopper and open divisions. Regular division entries by April 16 to (703) 777-2576, other divisions may be post-entered up to the day of races. Information (540) 3382218. Loudoun’s pace moves from Morven Park to Valley View farm to the west for 2000 on a new course.
