The Commissioners were split on the silo issue. A1 Henry was the first to comment and he said that there was a 90 foot silo in Huntly up until the 1970’s and that “Mr. (Dale) Welch said he’s going to use it (the new silo) later to store silage and if he said he’s going to use it, he will."
Mr. Henry also commented favorably on the Miller Silo, noting thetit was “a good distance off the road.” Tbm Tepper disagreed and suggested replacing the silos with simulated trees, though he admitted that the manufacturer’s photograph he had received “looked like a wire brush.”
Supervisor’s representative Ron Frazier stated his support for the silos. He said that he did not think that they looked odd or out of place “if you’re familiar with farming communities.”
Tom Junk too supported the silos. He said that he grew up on a farm and did not think that they will detract from the viewshed. Raymond Brown also commented favorably, stating that he too grew up on a farm and that “silos to me are a natural thing in the County.”
