Dewey Looney
Construction foreman
Dewey C. Looney, 73, of Grottoes, died Sunday, Oct. 14 at his residence.
He was bom April 12, 1928 in Grundy, Va., son of the late Basil and Maggie Painter Looney.
Mr. Looney was a Construction Foreman and was on the crew that fabricated the steel that built the World Trade Center.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, George Looney, Slimp Looney and Tivis Looney; two sisters, Mae Wicks and Maiy Ratliff and one granddaughter, Tracey Renee Messick.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Looney of Grottoes; two daughters, Beverly Davis of Grottoes and Sherry Letts of Culpeper, formerly of Rappahannock County; five sisters, Martha Price of Lebanon, Nell Viers of Bristol, Ella -Stacey of Grundy, Ethel Robinson of Tampa, Fla. and Gladys Fell of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Virginia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, New York and Florida.
The family gathered in remembrance of Mr. Looney on Sunday, Oct. 21 at the McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
