Aubrey Chadwell
Welder, farmer
Aubrey Thomas Chadwell, 85, of Middletown died Monday, Oct. 15 at his residence in Middletown.
He was bom Aug. 15, 1916 in Warren County, a son of the late John D. Chadwell and Mattie Rutherford Chadwell, formerly of Rappahannock County.
He was a certified welder and a member of the AFL-CIO Pipefitters Union Roanoke Local 491.
Mr. Chadwell was also a cattle farmer and a timber farmer. He was a member of the American Legion in Strasburg; the Ft. George Club Inc. and Disabled American Veterans.
He enlisted in the Army in December 1941 at the Remount Station in Front Royal and was disabled in World War II.
Mr. Chadwell was one of the original 14 member team to begin the construction of the Pentagon, the original CIA Building and the Newport News Ship Yard.
He was formerly married to Mary Ann Chadwell.
Survivors include a son, Stephen T. Chadwell of Stephens City; two sisters, Ann Mauck and Bertha Williams, both of Front Royal and two brothers, John Chadwell of North Carolina and Lawrence Chadwell of Front Royal.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, Oct. 19 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jerry Mehaffy officiating. Burial was in Shenandoah Memorial Park with military honors by V.F.W. Post 2123.
