The beautiful blue sky and balmy fall weather was ideal for the Country Fall Festival at the Amissville Fire Rescue fair grounds on Oct. 13. An estimated 2,000 visitors from Culpeper, Rappahannock and Northern Virginia attended.
Over 48 local civic groups, churches and local farms, crafters, and businesses participated with 80 other sponsors. The live animal displays were a big hit with young and old - including llamas from Lazy S Ranch (Pat and Charlie Sher), baby pigmy goats (Heritage Springs), bantam chickens and exotic pigeons (Touchstone Farm), RAWLS dogs and, of course, donkeys displayed by Tally-Ho 4-H (Dixie Meadows, Helen Dixon).
Highlights of the continuous music entertainment, hosted by Jeff Light of the Rappahannock Lions, were the gospel singers and Highroads puppet show from Front Royal, an accordion and harmonic duo by Frank Schmidt and Jeff, and impromptu renditions of popular and patriotic songs by local youth groups including the RCHS Cheerleaders, the Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
