Everyone stared as though the ball was in slow motion as it sailed over the keeper and found the back of the net. Now down by one and time running short, the play was all over Culpeper’s end and Carlos Flores found the net to tie it up. RIOT was now in complete control with all their players hungry for the win. RIOT pounded shots around the goal forcing comer kicks and as RIOT closed in for a winning goal time expired ending the contest with a tie. Final score 44. RIOT is now 5-2-1 for the season. Go RIOT!
The Rappahannock boys U12 played to a hard fought draw, 0-0, against a Madison U-12 team on Saturday. Despite the absence of our three strikers, for various reasons, the team never stopped competing.

The Blue Lightning U-12 Rapp girls’ coach Bob Lucking and assistant coach Justine Rosenbaum led their team south to face Madison for the second time this fall, in a rematch from the first game of the season. An early penalty against Rapp gave Madison a penalty shot, but goalie Megan Wheatley came up with a big stop exciting the Blue Lightning fans.
