For the past several seasons, the Smithsonian at Little Washington concert series, held at the Theatre at Washington, Va., has included one performance titled the Brilliance of the Baroque. This season that performance takes place on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. and features music for violin and harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Bach was one of the last, and arguably the greatest, representative of the magnificent Baroque musical era. The previous concert in the Brilliance of the Baroque " series at the Theatre featured Bach's sonatas for viola and harpsichord. In the upcoming concert the same musicians, Steven Dann and Kenneth Slowik will perform three Sonatas for' Violin and Obligato Harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach: the Sonata in A Major, BWV 1015, the Sonata in C minor, BWV 1017, and the Sonata in G Major, BWV 1019.
