a constant, awareness oi the presence God - really is not easy. In fact, for many, the “presence of God” amidst the bitter trials of life would seem to be a cruel joke. Who can think of God when there is so much injustice and suffering in our lives and in the world? But the beautiful life of Mother Teresa, her religious order, as well as the lives of the saints, proves that it can and must be done. The Cross of Christ is not a stumbling block, it is the key to the meaning of our existence.
There is nothing new in our present crisis except for new variations on an old theme. Life is dangerous. Always has been, always will be. None of us will get out of this life alive. So we must have the proper perspective on the ancient battle between good and evil as we are called upon to “fight the good fight” for the Lord. There should be little time for fear. Only Christ, not fear, is the center of our lives and our constant companion. This basic fact of our existence and our every endeavor must be undergirded by perseverance in prayer.
