Diane Bruce, clerk of the Circuit Court, whose office was hardest hit, said she is studying the impact of the cuts and attended a meeting last week in Charlottesville with other Virginia Circuit Court clerks.
She has two full time employees other than herself in her office, and all three salaries are paid by the state.
“We will reduce services to some extent if we have to layoff people or cut back on their hours. We might quit doing passports, or searching records and notarizing things,” said Ms. Bruce.
