This past Sunday morning, Oct. 27, Ben “Cooter” Jones made his last official campaign stop in Rappahannock before Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a thank you breakfast, held at the Washington Fire Hall.
This breakfast was as much a chance for Ben Jones to say thank you to Rappahannock and his friends and supporters here as it was their chance to once again show their respect for him personally and for the quality of campaign he has been running.
For most of the two hours at the Fire Hall, Ben Jones met one-on-one with close to 100 voters from Rappahannock answering questions, learning of their support, sharing stories and discussing issues. Although speeches were not on the agenda, Ben Jones asked if it would be all right if he said a few words. When the question was put to the group, the applause provided a resounding answer.
A very grateful Ben “Cooter” Jones spoke of many things, leading off by saying how proud he was of everyone and the amazing truly restorative support he has received from Rappahannock.
Candidate Jones also talked of the way he has grown as a person through this experience of applying for the job of serving the voters of the 7th District as their Congressman. Looking at the abundance of muffins and pastries still to be tasted, he mentioned the hundreds of barbecues, dinners, fish fries and lunches which have also lead to a different kind of growth.
