David Williams, one of Virginia’s most exciting young artists, will be exhibiting his newest landscape, floral and still life paintings in Long View Gallery in Sperryville, Va. The show will run from Oct. 31 through Nov. 25 and there will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.
Williams paints in the “alia prima” style, which loosely translated means all at once. His paintings are completed in one sitting, often outside, allowing him to paint the landscape he sees directly on the canvas. According to Williams, “Nature itself provides the true tangible material. Shape, color, shadows and the fall of light are woven into representations of flowers, trees or even a bowl of fruit.”
