From reveille at six in the morning until taps at ten at night, recruits must be alert and ready to go. Attention to detail is everything. The day is filled with hands-on training, giving the recruits an actual feel for the fleet with simulations in fire fighting, damage control and getting a ship ready to deploy. Recruits also receive classroom instruction on all aspects of the Navy including naval history, military etiquette and even finance. They participate in extensive physical training, focused on building strength and endurance. Recruits are taught watch standing procedures, standing multiple day and night watches to ensure they understand the importance of shipboard security.
