Charles Calhoun

Front Royal resident

Charles Douglas Calhoun, 78, of Front Royal died at his residence on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Riverton United Methodist Church with Dr. Randy Orndorff, Rev. Alfred Lawrence and Rev. John Lock officiating. Interment followed at Dry Run Cemetery in Fort Valley.

Mr. Calhoun was born May 12, 1924 in Staunton, son of Wade and Laura Rodeffer Calhoun. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from Avtex Fibers.

He was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Thomas and two brothers, Wilson Calhoun and Garland Calhoun.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret L. Calhoun; a daughter, Vicky Calhoun Eastham of Rappahannock County; and two grandchildren, Shannon Calhoun Eastham of Richmond and Lt. William Guerrant Eastham III of San Diego, Calif.

Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth “Betsy” Brady Robinson, 97, of Middletown died Monday, Oct. 21 at her residence.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday at Grace United Methodist Church in Middletown with Rev. Anne Hough officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson was born May 24, 1905 in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late James Richard and Mildred Ann Darnell Brady.

She was a seasonal worker for National Fruit Company in Winchester for over 20 years and was the oldest living member of Grace United Methodist Church in Middletown.

She was married to the late George “Ricky”
