Nursing Home in Front Royal.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by the Rev. Reid Sowder and Rev. Lester Horton. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal.
Mrs. Downs was born Aug. 12, 1904 in Flint Hill, daughter of the late Roy and Mary Emily Fincham Williams. She was a member of Front Royal United Methodist Church and the Shenandoah Rebekah’s Lodge No. 83. She was the wife of the late William Henry Downs.
Surviving are two daughters, Hilda Downs Powell of Haymarket and Helen Downs Bradley of Portsmouth; a son, Aubrey Lee Dowms of Kentucky; a brother, Roy Williams of Front Royal and five sisters, Gladys Ashton of Texas, Ruby Nicholson of Manassas, Mazie Ritenour of Harrisonburg, Anna Marders and Eleanor Shiflett, both of Front Royal.
Additional survivors include five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
