The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad will sponsor a haunted house on Oct. 31. Haunting starts at 5 p.m. and will last until 9 p.m. Residents are invited to “come if you dare and bring the children for a haunting good time.” Admission is free, however, donations are welcome.

VA claims agent schedule

The Commonwealth Veterans Affairs Claims Agents from Front Royal and Quantico will no longer conduct their once a month assistance visits to the American Legion in Warrenton and Virginia Employment Commission in Culpeper because of budget constraints.

Blue Moon activities

Musician Vyktoria Keating will be performing at Blue Moon Cafe on Friday, Nov. 1 at 9 p.m.

Sculpture workshop set

A sculpture workshop, figure in clay, taught by Charles E. Flickinger will be held Nov. 8-10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oldway Art Center. The $250 fee includes model fee and materials. For additional information call 987-9500.

Yoga with Lilo

Do you want to be more flexible and feel better physically as well as mentally? If so, join “Yoga with Lilo." Parenting classes offered

1 2 3 Magic: Effective Discipline tor Children 2-12 is being offered by the Rappahannock County Department of Social Services. This system of disciplining allows for parents to count and deliver time-outs in a way that is straightforward and unemotional. Upon completion of this two-part workshop, parents should have a better understanding of what to do and say in response to their child’s inappropriate behavior as it occurs.

The parenting classes are scheduled for Nov. 6 and Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. both evenings at the Rappahannock County Public Library. Attendance is required both evenings for completion of the course. Space is limited to 20 families and registration is required in advance by calling the Rappahannock County DSS office at 675-3313 by Nov. 1.

Open house at Wakefield

Wakefield School in The Plains will host an Open House for prospective students and their parents at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Nov. 10. Faculty members, students, alumni, parents, Headmaster Peter Quinn, and Director of Admissions Vicky Jann-Lewis will participate in an open forum, during which time they will provide an overview of the school and answer questions from guests.

CCLC pla ns fall auction

The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its seventh annual Fall Auction and Party on Saturday, Nov. 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue. Washington. Cost is $20 per person, and includes food, fun and drink.

There will be live and silent auctions, a tag sale and libations. Among the special items is a tournament-sized backgammon board, handcrafted in Rappahannock County. Live auction items only are available for preview and absentee bidding on Nov. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the Washington School. All proceeds benefit the CCLC.
