Since he has taken office, our budget surpluses have vanished, massive deficits have returned, the debt our children must pay has skyrocketed, the Social Security Trust Fund is endangered by fiscal irresponsibility, the stock market has crashed, and millions of Americans have lost their savings and their retirement security. Slashing the surplus and dramatically increasing spending are not conservative politics. They are the policies of financial ruin. They are what the first President Bush aptly called, “Voodoo economics.”
I believe that we have to pay as we go. If we have to have it, we must pay for it. If we can’t afford it, it has to go. My priorities are national security, health care, and education. They are all expensive, but they are much less expensive that the alternative.
Professionally, I am a small businessman and an entertainer. Personally, I am a husband, a father, a grateful Christian and a recovering alcoholic with 25 years sobriety.
The decisions we face in this time of crisis require maturity, good judgment, and independence. I believe I have shown those qualities in my life of public service. I ask for your support, your vote, and above all, your prayers.
