Tsunami
efforts continue
On Saturday, the school also served as the venue for a meeting of Rappahannock County’s Thailand Tsunami Relief organization, where participants had the opportunity to hear from Thailand’s Ambassador to the United States, Kasit Piromya. Ambassador Piromya gave an update on conditions and needs for the hardest-hit areas of his country.
Attendees also viewed a video produced by Wakefield’s seventh grade world geography class, which was created to highlight their concern for the Tsunami vietims. WCDS students will be participating in the relief organization’s adoption and restoration efforts for a specific rural fishing village in Thailand, and they also will be starting a “pen-pal” program with children in Thailand, with translation help forthcoming from the . Thai Embassy.
The school rounded out the weekend with a Middle School “Spring Fling” Dance on Saturday evening, attended by students in grades six through eight.
