Budget appr oved
The Board voted u nanimously to accept the recommended budget of $11,357,832.00 proposed by superintendent of schools, Bob Chappell.
The Board also authorized Chappell to search for funds in the budget to be transferred to the Curriculum Enrichment Program(CEP), a program that community members have made known to the Board that they would like to see boosted with additional monies.
Upping funds for the CEP was the main issue of the night as several county residents came forth to express their desire to see the program monies increased.
Jan Makela of Jackson district spoke in support of CEP as both a teacher and parent. “CEP has provided lots of funding for projects when there is no where else to apply. Our Rappahannock students are truly blessed to have this program at their teacher’s disposal,” said Makela who proceeded to illustrate some of the recent projects funded by CEP such as band, art, and drama programs, leadership workshops, and student attendance at regional and state competitions.
