New CD available
Many locals are familiar with the music of Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton. There is good news for those who enjoyed their concert last fall at the Theater at Washington — thencollection of hymns is available on their newest CD entitled “Gathering at the River”.
The hymns, which have been drawn from around the world, are elegantly arranged for guitar and Celtic harp. American, English, Irish, Dutch, German, and Welsh tunes are represented, some centuries old. Many of the melodies are familiar, such as The Sweet Bye and Bye’, ‘Morning Has Broken’, and ‘Nearer My God to Thee’.
The new CD, along with some of their other CDs, including ‘Ireland’, ‘Patchworks’, and ‘Airs for Solo Celtic Harp’ are available locally at the Old Sperryville Bookshop. Call 9878444 for more information.
