Vision for Virginia
In 1995, Salahi made a speech standing on his own deck, overlooking 100-acres of vines, and declared that by the year 2007 there would be 100 wineries throughout the state of Virginia.
It is now 2005 and the state is only two shy of that number, boasting 98 wineries statewide.
“I am preparing a speech now to give before Governor Mark Warner and my statement will be that by the year 2015, there will be 200 wineries in the state of Virginia,”
Salahi added, "Hie more wineries that come into Virginia, the more people there are to work together. I would welcome 20 new wineries on Hume Road — Virginia is the future and heart of wine in America.”
