McNear further commented that with the good news in Rappahannock County, there was also bad news to follow, which is in regard to rental properties in the county.
The guest speaker asked how many of the lanning commission members have checked the prices of house rentals within the county, as well as the availability of rentals.
In response to his own question, McNear advised that, “it is hard to find any rental property, especially moderately priced housing.”
McNear further advised the commissioners that the group should be concerned with the possibility of individuals bringing forth exclusionary lawsuits, which state that certain classes of people have been excluded from housing opportunities within the county.
According to McNear, the county needs to make provisions for moderate income and elderly around the villages
