Essay Contest
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Culpeper Chapter # 73 is sponsoring an essay contest that will be due soon. All students may participate and forms are available at the Rappahannock High School (see guidance office), Rappahannock Elementary School and the Rappahannock Public Library. “Stories Run Through Us”
Ki Theatre will present a new version of “Stories Run Through Us” on June 24-25. “Stories Run Through Us” is the adaptation of autobiographical stories for the theatre. The stories were originally written for the Life Stories Workshops led by Julie Portman. These workshops teach people of all backgrounds and ages to write and share their own stories. Auditions for parts will take place on April 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ki Theatre on Gay Street in Washington. Ki is also looking for someone to help stage manage the production. That person need not be experienced since he/she will be assisted by someone with stage manager experience. Nature Walks scheduled
Three Nature Walks are scheduled on April 3 at 2 p.m., and April 4 and 7 at 3 p.m. at Bruce and Susan Jones’ farm on Long Mountain Road. On display will be native plant diversity, wildlife, bird nesting boxes. The recently begun CREP project to be observed will show tree and shrub plantings, soil erosion control and conservation of wildlife habitat. Each walk is limited to 25 and will be conducted rain or shine. Bring binoculars. Light refreshments will be available. Free to the public. Restless Legs Syndrome
Restless Legs Syndrome Support Group will meet on Monday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Healing Connections, 205-B Keith Street in Warrenton. 4-H Jumble sale
The Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club is seeking items from the community for its second annual Jumble Sale on Saturday April 9 at the Flint Hill Fire station. Some of the county’s antique furniture, collectibles, and other household items will be for sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shoppers will have the opportunity to buy light refreshments, raffle tickets and meet members of the club. Donations of small fumiturejehairs, lamps, tables) rugs,paintings, tools, toys and books are welcome. No clothing please. Items that are related to Rappahannock County are especially appreciated.
