Last Friday afternoon the Rappahannock County High School Band gave parents and teachers a sneak preview of the marching band’s upcoming performance.
“There’s been a lot of work , sweat and some strenuous moments, but today you can see that we’ve not just been working on our suntans,” said band director Matt Yonkey, as the students lined up in the hot sun.
This year’s theme is taken from the rock band, “The Rolling Stones.”
“I did it back when I was in band during high school,” Yonkey explained, “it seems to be a crowd pleaser.”
Yonkey came up with his own musical arrangement and march routine of Stones’ songs worthy of the marching band.
