The writing of “Fragments of a Plan,” which ultimately evolved into “Punjab Nights,” began as a cathartic attempt to vent some of the frustration he experienced after twenty years trying to foster economic development in third world countries. In his presentation on Sept. 8, Burns will share the process of culling a publishable novel from the original and the many lessons about both the craft of fiction and the realities of publishing that he learned along the way.

He will also introduce us to his most recent novel, “Venetian Exile,” which is a tale of war, love and espionage set in sixteenth century Venice, and the first volume in what Burns envisions as a four novel series.

RAAC invites the community to hear and talk with Robert Burns at the Rappahannock County Library on Friday September 8, at 8 pm. There is no charge for admission.
