POSITIVE
MEMORIES
No matter how upset or distraught you may feel about the death of a loved one, you will, in time, be able to recollect the event in a more positive light. According to a recent study, healthy individuals tend to recollect life-altering events with more positive emotion later. When the study participants were asked to think about past events that helped define their lives, they tended to discount fear, anger, and other negative emotions in favor of more positive feelings. This showed that, as much as people are prone to experience strong emotional reactions in extreme situations, they eventually come to terms with these events in a manner that brings a more positive sense of themselves and the world.
