Running!"
The RCPS opened Monday, August 28, to welcome 983 s tudents. There were 558 stucents at RCES and 425 at I iCHS. On the first day of school last September there vrere 967 students enrolled. C hi the last day of school this jast June there were 1,017 students in attendance. We expect the numbers of stut ents to increase by September 30, the date we r lust report an official count to t le State.
We are optimistic that 2006-2007 will be a year of significant teaching, learning, atnd accomplishments in our classrooms. We also expect continued success and improvement in the academic, athletic, career-technical, and fine arts competitive events in which our students participate.
Our coaches and students have experienced some early success: The Varsity Volleyball team won a tournament against Millbrook HS and other larger schools last week. The Varsity Football team is 11 in preseason action and plays at Luray this Friday night at 7:30.
The RCHS Cross Country Team will have its first meet at Blue Rock Inn this Wednesday at 5:00. Thanks to the folks at Blue Rock for continuing to allow us to use their facility for home cross country meets. The award winning Panther marching band will perform at all home football games and possibly at some away games.
