aenne me rural cnaracter ol our communities.” BRFC’s land conservation efforts are focused on three areas: voluntary land protection, conservation planning, and community outreach and education.
This past year, BRFC commissioned Virginia photographer Larry Behunek to take yearlong photographic records of the rural beauty and character of the Virginia Piedmont in Madison and Greene Counties, with the principal focus areas on properties that are under conservation easements or targeted for conservation efforts by BRFC and other conservation groups. The result has been a spectacular photographic journey through the lands of these two counties.
The photo areas in Greene County included Parker Mountain, Amicus and Snow Mountain (including Hightop) Conservation Areas, and the South River, Conway River and Rapidan River Corridors.
