the inside of a sofa, the next article will address the designer aspects of this piece of furniture and other upholstered products like chairs and ottomans. We will take a look at style considerations. A custom sofa or chair chosen by you and your designer can be “built” to your specifications, including size and scale, fabrics, arm style, skirt types, feet or legs, the number of cushions, types of backs, the use contrast welting, etc. Current trends and new ideas will be presented. Thoughts on the value of slipcovers and reupholstering, versus buying something new, will be addressed as well. Now that the “nuts and bolts” are in place, the individualization of your design needs and desires can come into play!
