William H. Lyne
“Dad was the most honest man he ever met.”
He had a great love for nature, , a keen eye for good horseflesh, loved a good joke, and enjoyed people immensely. His driving force was an endless curiosity.
He was married to Frances Wyatt Cottrell of Tbano, Va., on Sept. 7, 1940.
They were married 61 years. She was a first-grade teacher for many years in the Rappahannock County public school system.
Mr. Lyne is survived by a daughter, Mary Peachey Lyne of Menlo Park, Calif., a caterer in the San Francisco area, a son, David C. Lyne, of Warrenton, a content editor at The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 2 at the Mitchells Presbyterian Church with private interment, with Rev. John Grotz officiating.
