Lucy’s day is filled with exploring. While it seems to me that she covers the same territory on our farm, for her it appears that no two days are the same. She’s never bored and never lacks enthusiasm.
Favorite pastimes for Lucy are hunting for box turtles in the woods and trying to catch frogs at the pond. She’s often successful with the former and almost never with the latter, but she perseveres. Centered on her purpose, her whole body enthusiastically wags at just the possibility that today could be the day she catches the frog. Head down, tail up, Lucy pushes herself through the reeds, while frog after frog hops into the pond just beyond her reach.
But on the days that Lucy finds box turtles, all is well with her world. She gently lifts the turtle into her mouth and proudly returns home to deposit it at her family’s feet. Every inch of her shares her success
